A Day at Beachy Head

Beachy Head, oil on board, 25 x 35cm, June 2013

Last month, I spent a day at Beachy Head on the south coast of England  with the intention of painting the cliffs there again. I did paint them, but found the rock pools there just as interesting. Although there was little tonal contrast in the subject, there was a vivid, almost complementary, contrast between the red-brown of the rocks and the reflected blues of the sky in the still waters of the pools.
